Planning

This week we began looking into what we will be getting up to this semester, this included picking a topic that we want to research for the next few weeks. Personally gaming isn’t a massive interest of mine but nevertheless I'm excited to dive in and learn more. I had originally wanted to go with the topic of Nintendo Wii and talk about everything Nintendo but i was advised that it might be a little difficult to gather enough reliable information for the tasks we need to complete so I have since switched my topic to Mechanisms For Advancing The Plot. I decided to choose this topic mostly because I was told there was plenty to find about it honestly but also because it actually sounds quite interesting. After I decided on my topic I began thinking up some key words that I can use to find articles and papers to help me over the next few weeks. I then started looking around using these key words in the college library website and google scholar to find the articles and picked out some of my favourites which seem most relevant to me and my topic. I began organising them in a document to keep track of which ones I have found and read and written up about so I don’t get mixed up in the future.

Tutorial 01

This week we started back at the unity tutorials, I had gotten used to the 3D unity stuff last semester but I was little less confident coming back to unity after quite a long break. It's a bit different this time round, I have decided after looking over the three options of either 2D unity tutorials, an introduction to XR or an e-learning project that I would like to go with the 2D tutorials. I have chose this option honestly because it sounded the easiest and gaming still really isn’t my strong point. For this weeks tutorials we had to complete the first 4 steps in creating a came we will be working on over a few weeks. It began initially by setting up the editor. I have to admit I struggled a little more with keeping up with these tutorials than I did with the last ones but I'm hoping it will get easier as the weeks go on. I think I find these ones more difficult because it doesn’t come with the videos, you have to read the instructions and follow that, they do include little gif things to show some part but i found hearing and watching the videos last semester made it really easy to understand so it seems to take me just a bit longer to get things done this time.
